My Video Journal Standards II, V

Hello again!

This blog will be a little different, though it’s supposed to be a video, my schedule didn’t allow me to match the different prompts, and I’m an out of state student so I didn’t have any younger family members to use. So I thought the next best thing would be to write it out.

One of my favorite apps to use in the classroom is Kahoot. This is a game-based learning platform that turns quizzes into interactive, exciting competitions. The way I would explain it to students would be like this: “For those of who know what trivia is, imagine playing it and when you answer questions you get to earn points, and the faster you answer correctly, the higher your score! We can use Kahoot to review what we’ve learned in a fun way.”

For example, if we’re studying math, I could create a Kahoot quiz with multiplication questions, and students would join the game using their devices. As each question pops up on the screen, students select their answers from multiple-choice options. It’s a race to answer quickly but correctly. Not only does it make learning fun, but it also encourages participation from everyone. After the quiz, we can discuss the answers together, which helps reinforce the material in an engaging way.

Using Kahoot in the classroom benefits students’ performance by making learning active and engaging. The competitive element motivates students to participate and think quickly, while the immediate feedback helps them learn from their mistakes on the spot. Kahoot encourages teamwork and collaboration when used in group activities, helping students build communication and social skills.

Overall, Kahoot supports better retention of information because students are having fun while they learn. It also gives teachers valuable insights into student understanding through data reports, so I can identify areas where they might need extra help. By blending learning with play, Kahoot creates a positive environment where students are excited to review and practice new concepts, ultimately boosting their confidence and performance.
