Hi everyone! 


My name is Kalise Graham, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Throughout my life, I have worked with kids in one way or another, I would help my grandma with her day care over the summers, watch my younger cousins, volunteer with kids, and even working at schools. I always liked to be around the energy that younger kids have brought. Growing up I wanted to be a pediatric doctor but soon realized that it wasn't what I was in love with. When I did my research on colleges, elementary education programs stuck out to me as well as Morgan State. I chose this school because it was close to me, and when I first stepped foot on campus, I knew that this was where I wanted to spend my next four years. My experience with children started when I became the family babysitter. I would be the first person my aunts or uncles would call, and I would go above and beyond to make sure they had fun with me. But about three years ago, I started working at an aftercare program, little did I know that this would have made me fall in love with teaching. I then became a camp counselor, volunteering with kids, and etc. So, if someone were to ask me why I want to become a teacher, my answer would be that I enjoy being around kids, and I enjoy helping them grow in ways they didn't know they could. But if someone were to ask me on a deeper level, I would say that I want to become the teacher who believed in me more than I believed myself, and I want every child to have that feeling of someone truly believing that whatever you put your mind to you can accomplish. I want to become the teacher that brings change and gives each child a feeling that they haven't felt before.

Hello again!  This blog will be a little different, though it’s supposed to be a video, my schedule didn’t allow me to match the different prompts, and I’m an out of state student so I didn’t have any younger family members to use. So I thought the next best thing would be to write it out.  One of my favorite apps to use in the classroom is  Kahoot . This is a game-based learning platform that turns quizzes into interactive, exciting competitions. The way I would explain it to students would be like this: “For those of who know what trivia is, imagine playing it and when you answer questions you get to earn points, and the faster you answer correctly, the higher your score! We can use Kahoot to review what we’ve learned in a fun way.” For example, if we’re studying math, I could create a Kahoot quiz with multiplication questions, and students would join the game using their devices. Welcome back!  In this blog, I’m sharing 11 educational technology tools and apps I plan to use to improve learning in my classroom. AbcYa AbcYa has engaging educational games for younger students. These games cover many subjects such as math, history, reading, and art. It makes learning fun and interactive for students. 2. Raz-Kids Raz-Kids is an excellent tool for developing reading skills through leveled eBooks and comprehension quizzes. This in  an  engaging tool, because there is a reward system in place, the more the child reads, the better they can decorate their online room. My Teaching Philosophy

  My teaching philosophy is all about putting students at the center while also focusing on their overall growth. With their own strengths, needs, and goals,  I believe every student is unique.  As a teacher, my job is to create a classroom where students feel encourages to be in control of their learning, while also supporting their academic, emotional, social, and physical development. In my classroom, learning will be hands-on and driven by the students. I aim to create lessons that spark creativity, encourage exploration, and get kids working together. I want every student to feel connected to what they’re learning, so I will make sure to have lessons that fit their interests and learning styles. My goal is to help students become  curious and confident problem-solvers,  not just knowledgeable. At the same time, I know it’s important to address students’ needs beyond academics.
