My Video Journal Standards II, V

Image
Hello again!  This blog will be a little different, though it’s supposed to be a video, my schedule didn’t allow me to match the different prompts, and I’m an out of state student so I didn’t have any younger family members to use. So I thought the next best thing would be to write it out.  One of my favorite apps to use in the classroom is  Kahoot . This is a game-based learning platform that turns quizzes into interactive, exciting competitions. The way I would explain it to students would be like this: “For those of who know what trivia is, imagine playing it and when you answer questions you get to earn points, and the faster you answer correctly, the higher your score! We can use Kahoot to review what we’ve learned in a fun way.” For example, if we’re studying math, I could create a Kahoot quiz with multiplication questions, and students would join the game using their devices. As each question pops up on the screen, students select their answers from multiple-choice...

Professional Development Standards VII

Image
The main goal of creating a technology professional development plan is to help teachers gain the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to effectively use technology in the classroom. So instead of just focusing on software training, these plans are used to provide support that helps teachers tackle real classroom challenges and improve student learning. By working together in groups, teachers are able to explore how different technology tools can fit into their curriculum, try out new ideas, and develop better teaching practices. Being part of a professional development plan is very important for teachers because it gives them an organized way to improve their technology skills while also tying them to what they’re teaching. These plans help teachers overcome challenges by working together and sharing ideas. As expected, there will be challenges along the way, like everyone not being on the same page, not having the resources they need, or dealing with scheduling conflict...

Technology Infused Lessons IV, V, VI

Image
Lesson plans are essential tools for effective teaching and learning. They help both teachers and students stay on task and focused, creating a productive and organized classroom environment. For this lesson plan, I created an interactive math activity using the ABCya app to support hands-on, project-based learning. My focus was on helping students practice their multiplication in a fun way that caters to their individual learning levels. By using this, I was able to create the opportunity for customized instruction, this allows each student to work at their own pace while receiving immediate feedback on what needs to improve. A great way to tackle classroom challenges like different skill levels and keeping students engaged is by using hands-on, project-based learning. Using ABCya, I am able to make my ideas more fun and easier to understand. As kids play the games, it helps build critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Using this approach not only address different challe...

Legal & Ethical Philosophy Standards I, II, III

Image
When I reflect on my PowerPoint for the Legal and Ethical Issues Assignment, I focused on the fact that schools must have clear rules and responsible online behavior for the faculty, students and families. An example that I used is in 2010, there was a former high school art teacher, Chadwin Reynolds who was caught sending friend requests to a few of his female students, along with leaving inappropriate comments under their photos. There were questions were raised about his Facebook status and behavior, including trying to ask a student to go out with him. This happened because everything was public. So, because the students' and his account were public, it was traced back to him and reported to his job. The lack of privacy settings led to this situation. This could have been avoided if teachers were educated about appropriate social media conduct, the consequences of this type of behavior, and having students as friends online. Schools should implement policies regarding befriendi...

My Teaching Philosophy

Image
My teaching philosophy is all about putting students at the center while also focusing on their overall growth. With their own strengths, needs, and goals,  I believe every student is unique.  As a teacher, my job is to create a classroom where students feel encourages to be in control of their learning, while also supporting their academic, emotional, social, and physical development. In my classroom, learning will be hands-on and driven by the students. I aim to create lessons that spark creativity, encourage exploration, and get kids working together. I want every student to feel connected to what they’re learning, so I will make sure to have lessons that fit their interests and learning styles. My goal is to help students become  curious and confident problem-solvers,  not just knowledgeable. At the same time, I know it’s important to address students’ needs beyond academics. So, with that being said, I want to create a safe and welcoming space where all s...
